An Easy Way To Get Out There Online & Offline

Thank You

Thank you for being here, whether you realise it or not, you're already making a difference.

Many times when I look on social media, I see post and hear from people just like you that they either love or loathe it, it's a similar story when socialising professionally or networking in the flesh.

Do you wish you loved connecting on and offline so much that you actually get to meet people?

Today I'd love to show you exactly how to get visible, raise your profile and describe what you do without posting links, thrusting business cards, or being removed from online groups for spamming.

Your work really matters: please share what you do with other Visibility VIBErs if Facebook floats your boat, to do that now click here

Here's a great way to introduce yourself

1. Greet the reader in a 'real you way', I often greet people I know with 'hiya' strange but true or hi, this is especially true in online interactions.

Face to face at meetings or meeting new people, I'll still say hi, in a more corporate setting I'll say hello, pleased to meet you but NEVER good morning, afternoon etc or I come across as wooden and weird!

How do you greet people you meet online and in the flesh?

2. Give your name or nickname, I'm definitely a Jenny and only Jennifer if I'm in trouble (or you want to get my attention).

If your name is difficult to pronounce let them know how to pronounce it properly, say it slowly if face to face or type it phonetically if in a group online.

I usually announce that I'm Jenny Kovacs at event's or when meeting people, they know how to pronounce my surname then, it's "Co-Vac-s" but with a 'K'

What do you prefer to be called?

3. Tell them where you're from are you in an online group where you're now based in Thailand but are originally from Manchester? Maybe you're over in America but spent time in Europe as a child.

These conversation starters give a person something to talk to you about and helps to build some rapport, even when you're speaking to them face to face.

When can you next use this nugget?

4. Without adding your website, page or blog give one or two short lines about your business, no one has time to read pages and pages of what you do, and to be honest people don't care THAT much. If they want to know more they'll usually ask.

I inadvertantly shared a Facebook live I did with another group I'm in, I forgot that as well as sharing the gems in the LIVE I had invited people to watch something else over on my page, this is just as bad as adding a website link or spamming someone else group. My bad... I removed it as soon as I realised - whoops!

Now, don't fall foul of being a business card thruster! When you're meeting people at networking event's or seminars etc, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT push a business card into their hand, it's not cool and it's not clever! Either wait until you're asked, or ask, can I share my business with you, with a honest reason why. (and be prepared for the person to say "no thanks".

Be honest, have you done this?

5. Let people know what attracted you to the group whether live or online, this is a great way to open up the conversation in the flesh or engage while online. Let them know the value you can give and/or gain, (without adding links to your 'stuff or card thrusting)

Want some practice?

Go and introduce or reintroduce yourself in the closed Facebook Group The Visibility VIBEs Tribe, you'll also be able to receive other visibility nuggets, meet great people and get offers there too.

Monday Motivation - What Are You Tolerating?

If you think you are too small to be effective, you have never been in the dark with a mosquito. - Betty Reese

In 2008 I recognised the stigma attached with a brand new week, often Mondays were met with dread, a feeling of overwhelm and a sense of being stuck or in a grind.

Not the best way to set yourself up for the day, let alone the week!

So I found ways to send motivational messages around the office to lift people up. In 2010 when I started my business, I was really keen to keep this up as a service to those who wanted it.

Today, I hope to bring the motivation to life, by creating the 10 minute space for you to activate your ability to today... Stop putting up with stuff!

____________

This week, I want to start by asking you a question, well two really...

What are you tolerating?

Or put another way,

What are you putting up with?

These questions are especially relevant, if you have big dreams, big plans, big ambitions to do the things in life we love, and this week I've heard a lot of different people, some are friends, some are coaching clients, all people who want to make a change to something in their life. They want to do something different, but somehow have felt like they can't.

Explore. Dream. Discover.  Written on a card given to me by a friend a year ago

So let's start with those 3 questions, yes you'll have to watch the video at around 3:50 to hear them. I then recommend writing down the answers on paper in a journal, a piece of paper or even the back of a envelope! Write it down, it's really important.

1) Is there a conversation that you need to have and you're avoiding right now? Is it with yourself or someone else or both?

2) What are you pretending not to know?

3) What aren't you being honest about with yourself?

Watch this weeks video to hear about my own personal account of back in 1993 and how I almost stopped myself. This is equally effective for any situation even those more seemingly serious work ones!

Once, and only once you've written down those answers, then go on to describe the situation or outcome you actually want.

Let me know how you use this nugget!

If you think you are too small to be effective, you have never been in the dark with a mosquito. - Betty Reese

Monday Motivation - Becoming Unstuck

"Sometimes when we're stuck, we need to look backward to move forward" ~ Jenny Kovacs

In 2008 I recognised the stigma attached with a brand new week, often Mondays were met with dread, a feeling of overwhelm and a sense of being stuck.

Become Unstuck

Cast your mind back to your aspirations for 2016, where they for more fun, freedom, friends or love? Perhaps you wanted a better career, business or health? You may have wanted to smooth out their relationship with their families of those closest to them?

So you'll likely know that feeling, when you feel stuck right?

Take a moment to think about what you've got in mind for today, and this week, have you got a busy day at work? An awkward situation to deal with?

"Sometimes when we're stuck, we need to look backward to move forward" ~ Jenny Kovacs

Where are you feeling stuck right now?

And it could be something like, clearing out the garage, tackling the kids bedroom, a change of diet, even a change of job!

If you have a few things which spring to mind, pick ONE thing, grab a pen and paper and write down your answers to these questions.

1) Which of those things would make the biggest difference TODAY?

2) What have you tried before which hasn't worked?

3) Ask yourself this question, in order to move forward , what do I need to forgive myself for?

I share my own insights during this weeks 'Facebook LIVE' video and what that means if you're feeling stuck with something and trying to move forward.

In essence, forgiving yourself for the things you think you did 'wrong' can easily be a doorway to propelling yourself forward towards the things you do want.

Let me know how you use this nugget!

::: Are You a Visibility Ghost? :::

Is this email not displaying correctly? View it in your browser.

Ghostly Goings On...

Oh Yes! I’m jumping on the Halloween bandwagon, but with good cause...
Are you being a visibility ghost? Do you even believe in them or know what they are?
You’ll know if you're a visibility ghost when you;
~ See other people and businesses getting out there, but when it comes to you, you freeze with fright and can’t get started or maintain momentum.
~ Hear other peoples great ideas, phrases or expressions and your sixth sense feels like the best way forward is to model theirs until you’ve found yours
~ Often feel like you’ve got too much to do to get out there, and it feels frightful to keep out there and when you try to keep up with it all, you wear yourself out.
Halloween Health Warning...
Before I dispense 3 quick pain killer cures, know that painkillers temporarily fix the pain, but in order to permanently, solve the underlying cause diagnostic action is required and I’ll let you know how to get a free diagnosis after you taken the painkillers.

Cauldron Cure 1
Fright and lack of momentum in visibility, often come from not feeling 100% confident with what you’re putting out there or not knowing exactly how, for you or your business. The painkiller cure is to get your leverage lenses on and go for the smallest thing that would make the biggest difference to you. Decide, pick and focus on that first.

Cauldron Cure 2
Appreciating or resonating with someone else’s great idea, means that their message speaks to you. When a person attempts to recreate someone else’s work, it contains someone else vibe and energy and means that no matter how hard you try it just doesn’t fly.
So the painkilling cure here is to explore, your work, what you do and how you do it uniquely. Focus on what you do with your clients and how you do it. The pattern will soon emerge, and you’ll realise that you have your own way, your own vibe and your own step by step process. It’ll also mean that your frustration levels will drop when you think that they can’t hear you, and their interest in what you do will soar as you find your voice.
Cauldron Cure 3
At the risk of sounding boring, having a little structure in place will most definitely provide a calm and enjoyable work life which is in harmony with your home and private life too. Structure has allowed me to be free to create and work without the ‘writers block’, feeling stuck or not knowing what to post, when.
Painkiller Work with the time you actually have, so if you’re a working mother with a family to look after, establish when you have specific time to work. If you’re growing a business and working at the same time you’ll need to create time to do both or maybe you’re expanding in your veteran business, and you require a framework so you feel less overwhelmed.
Plan your activities in blocks, for example, writing, admin, calls, etc so that you’re not switching from task to task within a working day. The also allows you to harness and use your energy, in the best way, for you, for your life and your business.
Those cauldron cures are effective pain killers, but once you have a diagnosis you’ll be able to uncover the underlying cause, to your visibility ghostly ways, no tricks just treats!

~ Facebook Visibility ~

I want to share something important with you in terms of Facebook visibility and it's this...

Numbers are not important in order for you to be seen by those you love or who love what you do!

A post which I love, and have shared on my public page has gone viral. This despite my likes (genuine likes, and not bought likes), Being under 1000.

It shows 3 things;

1. You don't need to have big numbers of likes to be seen and heard

2. It doesn't always have to be YOUR content, often posts which capture our imagination will capture those connected to us too

3. This isn't a numbers game, this is about building community. So it's likely that those who love you and what you stand for, will also love what you do AND what you share.

PS Here's the 'proof', as that's important for people to know too (obviously)

How to be 'professional' on video

How to be 'professional' on video
Hi Visibility VIBEr!

"I could divide my life in two parts: before turning pro and after. After is better" - Steven Pressfield (The War of Art)

During client calls, workshops and talks, one resounding visibility question I'm asked about consistently by you is video.

"OMG I could not do video, I look and sound awful" (which technically speaking isn't actually a question in my books) but that's what you say

OR

What basic equipment do I need Jenny, to get started?"

OR

How do I work out what to say?

I usually respond with a "Just start where you are" type of response, which I know sounds flippant, but I actually mean it.

Here's why, I remember a few years ago I made a video because I felt compelled to share some really useful techniques and to be honest, I got sick of waiting for 'my big break' before giving myself permission to just do it.

Someone I met had commented and said they had a TV production  background and that a video produced in a studio would be far better.

But for who? I asked

Because, I quickly realised from all the other comments I received, that my videos were actually hitting a spot and empowering you to create your own professional videos, without a script, perfect lighting or even makeup (yes men too).

So watch this and tell me if you agree, and notice how I incorporate the sights and sounds too …
Click to watch this ... Being Professional on video just got easier!
